Haddam Historical Society Offers “Kid Membership”

Submitted by Nicole Harlow

(February 28, 2024) — The Haddam Historical Society is offering an experience-based “Kid’s Membership” for youth aged 5 to 12 who love history and enjoy participating in awesome hands-on experiences.

Annual dues are only $10 and allow our kid members to attend one of the following activities free, while saving 50% on all of the others (a value of $20 or more):

• Hooray for Herbs!—Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thankful Arnold House Museum.
• Ponies & Pin-Pointing—Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Metal-detecting at a secret location will be announced in May.
• Historic Candle-Making—Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thankful Arnold House Museum.
• Special Jail Tour—Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Middlesex County Jail, Haddam.
• Not-Too-Haunted Cemetery Tour—(Friendly ghosts only!) Fall 2024 date and locations TBA.

In the late fall, we will also hold a “Kid Members Only” holiday craft event featuring hot chocolate and a
private shopping excursion to our gift store!

Membership also provides advance notice of special events and the opportunity to sign up first for youth programming prior to the public registration period.

We hope our kid members will be ambassadors for the organization and share their experiences with family, neighbors and friends. Join us for this opportunity to explore our community’s past and hidden treasures and to discover interesting people, places, and things!

To purchase a “Kid Membership,” go to: www.haddamhistory.org/support/membership, or call 860- 345-2400.
