Summary of Haddam Board of Selectmen Meeting February 12th

(February 19, 2024) — The regular meeting of the Haddam Board of Selectmen on February 12, 2024, was called to order by First Selectman Robert McGarry at 6:30 p.m. at Old Town Hall, 21 Field Park Drive, Haddam. Selectmen Kate Anderson and Peter Baird were present.

During Public Comment, residents expressed their support of First Selectman McGarry in response to comments attacking him over residing in Haddam Neck.

First Selectman McGarry provided the following updates:

  • There is an informational meeting regarding the Rossi Property scheduled at the Haddam-Killingworth High School Auditorium on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

Selectman Baird made a motion to accept the February 2024 Tax Refunds of $13,336.87. The motion carried.

Ed Schwing made a presentation discussing the importance of establishing a permanent Higganum Cove Preservation Commission. Selectman Anderson made a motion to move to legal counsel a proposal for review to dedicate the Higganum Cove as a preserve to be permanently protected and to establish the Higganum Cove Preserve Commission as a permanent Commission and to send it to a Town Meeting. The motion carried.

Selectmen Baird made a motion to appoint Ron Borelli as a full member and Jamin Laurenza as an alternate to the Zoning Board of Appeals. The motion carried.

Selectmen Anderson made a motion to move Mark Lundgren to a full member of the Board of Finance. The motion carried.

There was a brief discussion regarding the process of creating new committees and appointing members to the committee. The question was sent to the Town Attorney for his review.

The next regular Board of Selectmen meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., at Old Town Hall, 21 Field Park Drive, Haddam. The meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
