HKHS Seniors Win Honors for Their Student Film

Submitted by Kasha Topa-Fiberg

(February 16, 2024) — Congratulations to HKTV’s Shylee Emigh ’24 and Caitlin Kukta ’24!

We are thrilled to announce that Shylee (photo above, left) and Caitlin (photo above, right) won first place at the Eastern Connecticut State University High School Film Festival on February 10, 2024. They participated in the fiction category with their amazing film, “Closing Time.” We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication! Shylee and Caitlin produced the short film for their college-credited class at Haddam-Killingworth High School, “Video Digital Communication.”

It’s worth mentioning that Shylee and Caitlin received tremendous support from our community while filming their horror movie. They had the opportunity to shoot their film in our local grocery store, River Valley Provisions, and even included some of RVP’s very own customers in the film. It was truly a collaborative effort!
