Swing Bridge Update: Week of February 4, 2024–63 Hour Closure February 4th

(February 4, 2024) — The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises the following construction activities at the Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge (Route 82) for the upcoming week of February 4, 2024:

63-Hour Bridge Closure

  • Full bridge closure to vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians starting on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. The bridge will re-open on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Overnight Bridge Closures In addition to the 63-hour bridge closure occurring this week, the contractor will also be performing overnight bridge closures as follows:

  • Wednesday night (2/7) into Thursday morning (2/8) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Thursday night (2/8) into Friday morning (2/9) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday night (2/9) into Saturday morning (2/10) – 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Marine Advisory
    • The swing span is no longer opening to accommodate marine traffic passage. Scheduled openings will resume on April 1, 2024.
