(January 15, 2024) — The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises the following construction activities at the Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge (Route 82) for the week of January 15, 2024:

63-Hour Bridge Closure

  • Full bridge closure to vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians  now in effect, until Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

Overnight Bridge Closures In addition to the 63-hour closure, the contractor will be performing overnight bridge closures as follows:

  • Wednesday night (1/17) into Thursday morning (1/18) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Thursday night (1/18) into Friday morning (1/19) – 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday night (1/19) into Saturday morning (1/20) – 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • Extended Lane Closure:
    • A section of travel lane on the bridge has been removed from service so the contractor can continue with their rehabilitation work, this will limit the bridge to one operational lane for motorist to proceed through this area. Temporary traffic signals will regulate the alternating traffic flow on the bridge. This extended lane closure will be in place until March 31, 2024. Motorists should expect some delays when crossing the bridge during this period.
  • Marine Advisory:
    • The swing span is no longer opening to accommodate marine traffic passage, scheduled openings will resume on April 1, 2024.
