Winter/Spring 2023 Programs at Killingworth Library

Family Fun:

Pajama Storytimes. Select Thursday evenings, 6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Come dressed to cuddle and bring your favorite stuffed animal! Mrs. Fig will share her favorite seasonal stories. Family members of all ages are welcome.

Ages 2-5:

Love2Sign with Jaye. Thursday mornings, 10:45 a.m.-11:15 a.m. Jaye Carlson returns with a new session of Love2Sign! Fun, interactive sign language classes for children ages 6 months to 6 years old. The program starts on January 12, 2023 and runs through May 25th.

Music with Margie. Friday mornings, 11:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Margie Warner returns for songs and fun! The program starts on January 13, 2023 and runs through June 2nd.

Surprise Saturdays with Mrs. Fig. Saturday mornings, 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. We may read a story… Or do a craft… Play a game… Explore outside… What’s it going to be? You will have to come and see! For ages 2-5. Program runs from January 14, 2023 through May 20th.

For Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle Schoolers:

Do the Write Thing for Kids. Tuesday evenings, 5:45 p.m.-6:45 p.m. Kids, ages 7-9: Do you like to write, and would you like to help us create a writing club? Look no further! Join us as we explore well-known authors, and be inspired by their writing styles and craft. Collect your ideas in a journal and have the opportunity to write what you are passionate about! The program runs January 10, through May 30, 2023.

Lego Hangout Time. Wednesdays, 3:00 p m -6:00 p m. Just drop in and hang out with friends while working on one of the library’s new Lego kits! No registration necessary. NOTE: Adults must remain on the premises with children under the age of 12. Check out our new Coffee Nook for drinks, snacks, wifi, and “you-time.”

Minecraft. Saturday mornings.
Ages 6-8 at 9:00 a m. Younger players will learn the basics of the game and foster community through team activities. Monsters and fighting will be turned off! Emphasis will be on building and problem solving.
Ages 9-12 at 11:00 a m. Older players will work together as they build their own adventure world.

Teens:

Dungeons & Dragons. Thursday evenings, 5:00 p.m.-6:45 p.m. Teens, come play Dungeons and Dragons! The games run January 12, through May 25, 2023.

Teens and Adults:

Cricut Crafting. Tuesdays for two sessions: 3:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Craft with a Cricut cutting machine! Project possibilities are endless: cards, decals, home decorations, three-dimensional figures… You’ll be amazed at what this cutting machine can do! Most of the crafts do not require a fee, unless we are working with specialized materials like wood or veneer. Those projects will have a $2.00 materials fee attached. Program runs January through May 2023.

Adults:

Library Tips ‘n’ Tricks with Tammy. Wednesdays in January: 4th and 18th at 10:30 a.m., 11th and 25th at 3:30 p.m. This hands-on class will teach adults and seniors how to navigate various library features accessible with your library card! January’s topic is “How to Access Your Library Account from Home” – it includes placing and managing holds, setting search and notification preferences, maintaining checkout history, and more. Laptops will be provided for individual practice. The class repeats each week, so register for the session that works for you!

Author Visit. Join us as we welcome Killingworth author and photographer Christina E. Cole on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Christina will speak about her book Abandoned Connecticut: First World Wasted, and the aesthetics of historic and abandoned architecture. Copies of the book will be available for sale. Space is limited, so please register in advance.
