Track 2021: HKHS Boys & Girls Continue Undefeated Season with Wins against East Hampton

On Tuesday, May 11, 2021, the Haddam Killingworth High School boys and girls track teams continued their undefeated dual meet season as they competed in a home meet at the Dick Dupuis Track against East Hampton HS.

Both the boys and girls team came away with victories on the day as the boys defeated East Hampton by a score of 103-42 to improve their record to 4-0 on the season.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Zenon Kolcio 110 hurdles (17.0) and 300 hurdles (47.7), Max Cozean 800 (2:06.5), John Bruder shot put (51’1″) and discus (111’2″), Caleb Freeman 1600 (4:52) and 3200 (10:33), Aidan Law long jump (18’0″) and high jump (5’4″), Eamon Sweeney javelin (138’3″).  The boys 4×800 (Alex Lara, Caleb Freeman, Andrew Hedges, Max Cozean) and 4×400 (Max Cozean, Julian Houde, John Kowal, Andrew Hedges) relays were also victorious on the day helping the team score valuable points.

The HKHS girls team also improved their record to 4-0 as they won a close meet over East Hampton by a score of 79.5-70.5. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Kedarjah Lewis 100 (11.9), long jump (17’7″), and triple jump (34’10”), Leah Chester high jump (4’10”), Gabby Lester discus (91’7″) and shot put (29’7″), Isabel Berardino 3200 (13:17). The girls 4×800 (Kathy Melgar, Brianna Minervino, Isabel Berardino, Meara Bodak) and 4×100 (Hadley Comerford, Leah Chester, Ly-Linh Criscuolo, Mai-Ly Criscuolo) relays were also victorious on the afternoon to help lead the girls to their victory.

The track teams will next be in action on Saturday, May 15, 2021 as they travel to New Haven to compete in the Hillhouse Invitational and then again next Tuesday, May 18, for their final dual meet at home against Hale Ray.
