St. Peter Church Silent Auction Raises $16,000 for Ukrainian Relief

Submitted by Richard Allison.

On the evening of April 3, 2022, the St. Peter’s Knights of Columbus Council 14590 hosted a silent auction event at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Higganum.  Approximately 50 local businesses donated items and services for the auction.  The St. Peter’s Church Ladies Guild prepared and coordinated the food and beverages for the event.

The event netted $16,000!  All of the proceeds were donated to the Knights of Columbus Charities, which has established and staffed a refugee center on the Ukrainian border in Poland.  The Charity Fund has provided millions of dollars in aid to provide Ukrainians with food, clothing, shelter, medical care and resettlement.

This event was planned and conducted in a very short time frame and supported by the other churches in Haddam and the community at-large.  Thanks to all who contributed to the success of the event.
