Rules of the Road for Posting Political Signs in Haddam

Submitted by Town of Haddam

(October 3, 2024) — Now that political signs are springing up like weeds, the Town of Haddam wishes to remind everyone of a few points:

· Please respect everyone’s right to free speech. Leave their signs alone. The First Selectman’s office has received complaints of sign thefts and vandalism from both parties.

· Please ensure thatany signs you put up don’t block drivers’ vision of intersections or other vehicles.

· DO NOT post signs on town property. This includes the triangles at some intersections, such as Camp Bethel Road/Saybrook Road. (Signs may be posted at the polling places on election day.)

· Signs posted on town property may be removed and can be claimed at the Land Use Office in the Town Office Building. The Connecticut Department of Transportation has a similar policy regarding signs in their rights of way. Click here for their policy.
