RSD17 Board of Education Community Input on the 2020-21 Budget: Livestream Tuesday, April 21st at 7:00 p.m.

The RSD17 Board of Education welcomes all Haddam and Killingworth residents to participate and give their input on the 2020-21 Budget. The BOE needs to hear your input as a part of the budget process. As ordered by Governor Lamont in Executive Order 7I*, there will not be a referendum. The BOE will vote on the annual budget on June 2, 2020.

You can participate by sending an email to: boepubliccomment@rsd17.org

  • Emails sent before the April 21st meeting adjourns will be read and responded to on the live Community Input Session, which you can view here: https://sites.google.com/rsd17.org/rsd-17- boe-stream .
  • Emails will be accepted until May 5th and all comments and any responses will be posted on the RSD17.org website in a FAQ under “Budget Information”.
  • Emails must include your full name and town in which you reside.

1. Go to www.rsd17.org

2. In the Top Menu, choose District – Board of Education

3. In the left menu, choose BoE Live Stream

*Under recent Executive Orders from Governor Lamont, The BoE has been given several directives on how to continue running public meetings and passing a budget:

  • Executive Order 7B dictates rules pertaining to “public meetings” and they are now held through video conferences which can be watched live or recorded on our RSD17.org website, and
  • Executive Order 7I, has suspended statutes requiring town meetings and referendums, and has ordered town municipalities and BoEs to adopt a budget at the board level, and
  • Under Executive Order 7C, the Board has been granted a thirty day extension to complete the 2020/21 budget.
