Rep. Courtney will host the Connecticut Farm Bureau Association (CFBA) via Zoom

(February 17, 2021) Tomorrow afternoon, at 2:00pm ET, Rep. Courtney will host the Connecticut Farm Bureau Association (CFBA), eastern Connecticut farmers and agri-business owners, and others for an update on new federal resources for farmers following passage of H.R. 133. Courtney and the CFBA will also be joined by CT Department of Agriculture Commissioner Bryan Hurlburt. H.R. 133 included a new round of support for the agriculture sector, including the PPP Farm Credit Eligibility, and $26 billion for agriculture and nutrition programs. Rep. Courtney will provide an update on this funding as it becomes available to farmers in eastern Connecticut, as well as negotiations underway in Congress on the American Rescue Plan.

Following the update, discussion will open for all attendees. Members of the press are invited to listen-in, and to ask questions following the discussion.

In November, the CFBA awarded Rep. Courtney their 2020 Legislative Award, which recognizes those who have given an outstanding commitment to Connecticut farmers and the state’s agricultural economy. Courtney is Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the bipartisan Congressional Dairy Caucus, and has worked throughout the pandemic to assist eastern Connecticut farmers. Courtney successfully pressed the USDA to expand food purchasing programs like CFAP to help more Connecticut farmers and to open CFAP to shellfish and hemp farmers, and his team helped local farmers and agriculture businesses to secure assistance through PPP, EIDL, and more.
