Pre-harvest Public Tour scheduled for Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 3:30 p.m.at Filley Road, Haddam – You are cordially invited to tour an upcoming irregular shelterwood harvest in Haddam (see map below). The purpose is to promote an uncommon young oak forest by giving the existing shade sensitive oak seedlings adequate sunlight. Oaks are not sustaining themselves under current natural conditions. Masks, social distancing, and a RSVP (email or phone # below) by Jan. 27 are required. If no one RSVPs, the tour will be canceled. Meet where indicated on map unless there is snow or ice on the hill up Filley Road, then meet before the end of the pavement and before 226 Filley Road. I hope you join us.
