Letter to the Editor: Thank You to Jail Volunteers

The views stated here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors of this newspaper.

The Haddam Historical Society would like to thank all the volunteers who made our Cell-Block Tales tour of the historic Middlesex County Jail a great success.

Christa Doyuard as “Kate Rich”

First, we would like to thank Blue Fire Stage Company of Haddam and their very talented members Dawn Alger, Christa Douyard, and Rich Wills for portraying former prisoners with flare and passion. We would also like to thank HHS members David Maher and Chris Smith for their portrayals of some dastardly characters. Everyone did a superb job.

We could not have done the event without our dedicated volunteers including Abbi Klein, Tim Jarrell, Grace Malloy, Dianne and Annie McHutchison, Dave Nichols, Amy Roper, Bill Schneider, Laura Schneider, Kayleigh Schneider, Isabelle Seggerman, Terry Smith, Cindy Sullivan and Bob Waller.

Rich Wills as “Patrick Moriarty”

Special shout out to long-time residents Jack Calhoun and John Parmelee for sharing their stories with visitors. We would also like to thank the Town of Haddam Department of Public Works and staff at the Transfer Station for their assistance.

Thank you,
Elizabeth Hart Malloy
