Letter to the Editor: Thank You From the Haddam Neck Fair

Dear Editor,
I’m writing to thank the many guests and volunteers who made the 108th Haddam Neck Fair a success. With the exception of late Monday afternoon, the weather was perfect with warm days and a hint of fall in the evening air.
More than 18,000 guests made the trek to Haddam Neck to enjoy the fair. They partook in culinary delights from the food court, rode the rides, entered the competitions, rooted for their favorites in the truck, tractor, horse and oxen pulls, were entertained by the bands, ran the 5k race, viewed the livestock entries and learned about Connecticut agriculture. Many got a bird’s eye view of the fairgrounds in the helicopter ride and others watched the new rock crawling and 4×4 events.
The fair supports many local, non-profit community organizations. For some, the fair is an important fund-raising opportunity. For others, it’s an opportunity to get their message out to the public or perhaps recruit a new member or two. In addition, each year the Fair Association makes donations to a number of community groups.
Again, my thanks to all those who came to the fair. A special thanks to our volunteers. A lot of work goes into putting on the fair. We couldn’t do it without you. It’s great to see our community come together in such a major undertaking. It’s one of the things that makes Haddam a great place to live.
I hope to see you next year!
Sincerely,
Bob McGarry
Director, Public Safety and Information
