To the Editor:

This letter is in support of Senator Norm Needleman, whom I’m supporting for re-election.

Senator Needleman brings years of experience in small town government to his legislative position in Hartford. He has been a strong advocate for the environment, health and safety, and most recently for consumers. As chair of the Energy and Technology Committee, he has promoted a “green economy” which would protect the environment as well as create jobs. His bipartisan committee has served CT residents well, and all bills leaving their committee have become law.

Most recently, Senator Needleman held public hearings following Tropical Storm Isaias and was successful in passing the “Take Back the Grid Act”. This legislation imposes penalties on Eversource and other utility companies for prolonged outages. It supports performance-based regulation and controls rate hikes, as well as allowing consumers to pursue compensation for storm damages during these extensive power failures.

Norm Needleman is forward thinking and also recognizes the need to address our utility needs in the future. Attention to consumer interests, controlling rate hikes, and ensuring more efficient energy services during storms is a good reason to re-elect Senator Norm Needleman. He has my vote!
