Letter to the Editor: In Support of Christine Cohen, State Senator

(Sept. 30, 2020) — When your readers cast their ballots this fall, I urge them to consider supporting a second term for State Sen. Christine Cohen, who has ably represented the 12th District for the past two years.

I’ve been impressed by her leadership on a number of issues, particularly environmental stewardship and sensible gun safety legislation. Christine was the driving force behind the creation of the bipartisan Coastal Caucus which works to mitigate the impact of climate change in our region through smart legislation. She has also supported up-and-coming agricultural businesses, including industrial hemp producers and cideries.

Following a tragedy in a neighboring town, Christine helped pass Ethan’s Law, which mandates safe gun storage. She also co-sponsored legislation to ban home-printed, 3D plastic guns with no serial numbers (“ghost guns”).

I appreciate Christine’s thoughtful approach to new legislation; she does extensive research and seeks input from a wide range of constituents before making decisions that impact all of us.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic and in the aftermath of tropical storm Isaias, I’ve relied on Christine’s emails for important and timely information about how these events are impacting our region. She is a strong advocate for residents of the 12th District.

I will be casting my ballot for Sen. Christine Cohen this fall and I encourage your readers to do the same!
