Letter to the Editor: In Support of Cathy Iino

To the Editor:

Killingworth is fortunate to have Cathy Iino as our First Selectwoman. At a time when national politics and political leaders pit us against each other, it is so refreshing and gratifying to have a person who brings us together for the good of everyone. This spring, the quality of education in our town was threatened by the defeat of the HK school budget. Cathy reached out to Killingworth Democrats and Republicans alike to work together for the good of our town and children. She led a successful bipartisan effort to pass a fiscally responsible budget that will help maintain the high quality of the HK system going forward. Thank you, Cathy!

Fiscal responsibility extends to everything Cathy does for the town. She has kept our tax increases as low as possible (ZERO this year!) consistent with the need to deliver town services and quality education in an environment of constantly increasing costs. She and her team have worked tirelessly to chart a sensible path forward for our town that protects our unique character while supporting local businesses and growth.

Cathy is known for her intelligence, her strong commitment and her work ethic in support of Killingworth. She is a highly qualified and experienced public servant. But she is also known for her kindness, her compassion and, perhaps most importantly, her ability to listen. This amazing skill set is just what one wants in leadership at every level.

We have it right now in Killingworth. We urge everyone in town to come out on November 5 and say “Thank You” to Cathy with a vote for her and her Democratic team.

Respectfully,
Bill & Paula Herbst
Killingworth
