Killingworth: After Isaias Update/Road Closures

Posted on Facebook around 9pm August 5, 2020, from Cathy Iino, Killingworth First Selectman.

I apologize for the internet silence today. This is the first time I have been able to get on the internet in 24 hours.
I wish I had better information to give you about power restoration, but we are getting little cooperation from Eversource. Our road crew has been clearing blocked roads where power lines were not involved. They have been ready to work with Eversource to clear roads that an Eversource “Make Safe” crew could ensure had no live wires, but Eversource has not yet provided a crew. I will update you as soon as I have information, which I am fighting hard to get.
In the meantime, here is a list of blocked roads we know about:
42 Bethke Road
Birch Mill Road
Chittenden Road
Chittenden/Cow Hill intersection
42 County Road
Jay Dowd Road
Green Hill Road between Chittenden and Stevens
75 Little City Road
North Parker Hill Road/ North Roast Meat Hill Road
108 Old Deep River Turnpike
4 Parker Hill Road and Parker Hill Road Extension
146 Pond Meadow Road
241 Reservoir Road
724 and 763 River Road
274 Roast Meat Hill Road
Route 80 at Ivy Cottage
362 Route 148
Stevens Road near Clarkson
Little City Road near Haddam Town Line
Please avoid these roads until they are clear. Do not try to drive under trees that are leaning in wires, and please try not to turn around in home driveways.
The Transfer Station will be open tomorrow, August 6, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., for all waste. Trash that normally goes into the compactor will be collected in a truck outside the gates. Please remember to wear a mask, keep your distance from others, and be patient as we try to keep conditions safe.
If you have information to report, please leave a message at 860-663-1765, x 501.
Please check back tomorrow for information on a respite shelter. We are working with Red Cross to provide charging and water, but we are not yet sure how these will be provided.
Stay safe–
