By Olivia Drake, HVFC Public Information Officer.

Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire on Hidden Lake Road at 8:10 p.m. Sept. 16, 2019.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoky conditions and a small fire in the kitchen of a two-story single-family home. The homeowner and one dog were outside the home, and crews coaxed another dog to exit the premises.

Crews used a fire extinguisher to suppress the fire. Firefighters removed all burning debris and ventilated the home.

Chester Hose Company, Durham Volunteer Fire Department, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Department, and Middletown South District Fire Department responded as mutual aid.

The cause of the fire is under investigation with the Haddam Fire Marshal.

  1. A number of us were in Higganum Center Monday evening at a meeting when the fire and ambulance crews rushed out to this house fire. It certainly is comforting to see the quick response and the willingness of the volunteers to serve and protect us. Thank you.
