HVFC Responds: Brush Fire at Intersection of Saybrook & Tylerwoods Road

By Olivia Drake, HVFC.

On June 25, Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a small brush fire at 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Saybrook Road and Tylerwoods Road. A tree had fallen onto the power lines, causing the fire and power outages in the area.
Crews closed a section of Saybrook Road during the incident and rerouted traffic to Camp Bethel Road. Once crews from Eversource removed the fallen tree from power lines and deemed the area safe, firefighters extinguished the brush fire and saturated a 50-foot area of woods.
Crews reopened Saybrook Road following the incident.
