Chief Claude Hendrickson

(June 20, 2023)—Members of Haddam Volunteer Fire Company mourn the loss of former HVFC Chief Claude Hendrickson, who passed away June 13 at the age of 84.

Claude was elected to membership in January 1973 and was promoted to the rank of firefighter in January 1974. He resigned from the company in October 1983.

During his tenure with Haddam Fire, Claude served on the 50th Anniversary Committee, Old Timers’ Night Committee, and Truck Committee. He served as HVFC chief, respectively, from 1977-1983.

Claude’s late brother, Duane Hendrickson, also served with HVFC from 1969 to 1978.

Claude was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and upon discharge, he went to work as a truck driver for the Teamsters.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21 at Biega Funeral Home in Middletown. Burial will be at noon on Thursday, June 22 at the State Veterans’ Cemetery.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.
