HVFC and Auxiliary Members Preparing Their Famous Clam Chowder

By Olivia Drake, HVFC Information Officer.

(May 29, 2023)—Members of Haddam Volunteer Fire Company and the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary are at Station One tonight (May 28) prepping to make clam chowder. The chowder—a HVFC tradition—is made by fire company members starting at 4 a.m. on Memorial Day and sold by Auxiliary members following the annual Town of Haddam Memorial Day Parade on Monday. Soup is $4 a cup or $10 a quart and will be sold next door to the Haddam Veterans’ Museum following the parade. All proceeds benefit the Haddam Veterans’ Museum.

The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. in Higganum Center. Several members of HVFC and the HVFC Auxiliary will be marching in the parade.
