HKHS Boys & Girls Spring Track Both Finish 2019 Dual Meet Season Undefeated 6-0

On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, the Haddam Killingworth High School boys and girls track teams traveled to Westbrook to compete in a tri-meet against Morgan and Westbrook.  Both the boys and girls team came away with two victories on the day to finish their dual meet season undefeated 6-0 as the boys defeated Westbrook by a score of 143-7 and beat Morgan by a score of 113-37.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Colton Lavoie javelin (136′) and  shot put (44’7″), Luke Sodergren 110 hurdles (15.8) and 300 hurdles (42.5), Matt Jennings 800 (2:10), Seth Freeman 1600 (4:49), Seth Regan 100 (10.7), Chase Mack discus (117′),  Sean Rutledge 3200 (10:34), Tyler Knapp pole vault  (11’6″), Eamon Sweeney high jump (5’6″).  All three boys relays, 4×800, 4×100 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the day helping the team to their win.

The H-K girls team also finished their season undefeated as they went 2-0 on the day beating Westbrook by a score of 115-35 and defeated Morgan by a score of 112-38. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Autumn Coady won the 100 hurdles (16.5) and 300 hurdles (48.9), Meara Bodak 1600 (5:56) and 3200 (12:55), Julia Callis long jump (15’5.5″), Kayla Danaher triple jump (29’10”), Amanda Minervino javelin (93’9″) and Morgan Schultz pole vault (7’6″). The three girls relay 4×800, 4×100 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the afternoon to propel the girls to their victories.

The track teams will be a split squad next as they will be in action on Friday May 10, 2019 at the Running Rams Invitational in Old Saybrook and also at the Loucks Games in White Plains, NY on Saturday May 11, 2019.
