(February 17, 2023) — Several farms in our region have received Farm Transition Grants from the Connecticut Department of Agriculture, among them, Halfinger Farm in Higganum. In all, a total of $549,649 will go to thirty projects across the state to assist Connecticut agricultural producers and cooperatives seeking to expand, diversify and improve existing operations.
They also address regions where farms may see gaps in farming. The grant to Halfinger Farm will support the reconstruction of an existing barn into a daffodil bulb processing barn.
A total of 58 applications were received. The maximum grant award amount was $49,999. Matching funds were required for each request.Â
