Helping Ming Help Us at the Higganum Village Market

Editorial Staff.

(April 3, 2020) — Many people have been relying on the Higganum Village Market so that they can stay fully stocked at home during this time when we’re supposed to remain home in order to stay safe, and we are used to Ming Chou, who owns the store, carrying everything we need (and then some!). Ming carries an extraordinary variety of items for a small grocery store. And we have come to love Ming’s store for its sense of community and as a gathering place.

Unfortunately, during COVID-19 and the new physical distancing rules, we all need to make some adjustments.

  • Please don’t congregate in the store, talking to the friends you see. Maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet for your safety and that of others.
  • If there are quite a few cars in the parking lot, please wait until someone comes out before you go in, so that the store does not get over-crowded.
  • Please shop for more than one day at a time.

It is a stressful time for many. So please do your part in keeping our Higganum Village Market a safe place for all of us to shop.

The new store hours are Monday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

These new rules will also be going into effect today.

  1. I would like to say that I hope everyone remembers the great service that Ming provides us with. Please continue to shop there after things settle down. We are so fortunate to have this gem in our town. We need to make sure he continues to have a successful business. Ming works very hard to help us, and we must remember that.

  2. Agree with all the above. Further, I’m reasonably sure that the store employees would appreciate our wearing masks, as they are exposed to a lot of customers during the day.
    Ice cream selection is awesome.
