Submitted by Kevin McManus, Haddam Emergency Mgmt.

(August 15, 2019) — Members of Haddam’s Emergency Management Team, along with officials from area towns, Connecticut Department of Transportation, United State Coast Guard and State Emergency Management recently underwent an “Ice Jam Training” workshop.

Speakers from the Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL), and the National Weather Service (NWS) discussed a number of topics regarding the development of ice jams and how they flow. This training will allow officials to recognize hazards earlier and communicate needs and hazards with proper departments.

Residents across the State are urged to sign of for emergency notifications thru the www.CTALERT.GOV program. A variety of preparedness topics for residents can be found at www.ready.gov.
