Haddam Lions Club: Coat and Shoe Drive a Huge Success!

Submitted by Mike LaFleur, President

(January 16, 2021) When the Haddam Lions started their shoe & coat drive they set a goal of 500 coats & 500 pairs of shoes.  After three weekends of collecting at Haddam Elementary School the total was 876 coats & 1384 pairs of shoes.

Additional donations of 14 child snow suits; dozens of gloves, scarves & winter sox; and a cash donation of $200 were also made.

Safe to say we underestimated the sense of responsibility and generous nature of Haddam, Higganum & Killingworth.

Our dilemma

The Covid era has challenged our club as to how we can best serve our community.  Last year all planned fund raising events were canceled.  In response we chose to redefine ourselves as a club and explore new avenues of fund raising.  This drive is the first result.

The Haddam Lions club is a small group of people who believe we have a obligation to help our neighbors both local and abroad.  We contribute our time, resources and enthusiasm to fulfill the oath of a Lion.  We serve.

We are welcoming those who are interested in joining this pride.  Please visit us at HaddamLionsClub.com if you want to find out what we are all about.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you and look forward to a bright future together.

Help us help others.
