Haddam Historical Society and the Shad Museum Sponsor Shad Day May 19, 2019

Submitted by Elizabeth Malloy, HHS.

On Sunday, May 19, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Haddam Historical Society invites members and town residents to the wonderful Haddam Shad Museum for demonstrations, shad trivia and a chat with local shad fishermen. Dr. Joe Zaientz, Founder of the Shad Museum, will be on hand to answer any and all shad questions.  Meet local shad fishermen whose tales will have you laughing, smiling and long for the days when shad was king of the river. Jack Calhoun will demonstrate how to plank shad and test your shad knowledge. The museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (every Sunday until June 2) and is located at 212 Saybrook Road in Higganum (behind the gas station).  Did you know that shad are saltwater fish but spawn in freshwater?
