Free School Meals Program Extended for Haddam & Killingworth Children

FREE School Meals Program
effective Thursday, September 17, 2020
(through December 31st, subject to USDA funding)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved an extended waiver making all school meals free for every child that resides in Haddam and Killingworth. RSD17 will provide FREE breakfast and lunch (at KES, BES and HKIS) and FREE lunch (at HKMS and HKHS). This includes children who are present in school, children who are remote learning from home and children not enrolled in our school system but are residing in either Haddam or Killingworth for all children age 18 and underThe forms to order food are linked below in blue.

In-School Learners at BES, KES, HKIS: Meal counts will continue to be taken at the start of the school day.
In-School Learners at HKMS: HKMS in school lunch order ORDER MUST BE IN BY 8:15 a.m.
In-School Learners at HKHS: HKHS in school lunch order ORDER MUST BE IN BY 7:00 a.m.

Remote Learners and HK residents who are not RSD17 students
Remote Learners: Parents may pick up Grab & Go meals on Monday through Friday at each building, please note pick up time at each building. To help with planning, please complete the order form by 5:00 p.m. the night prior to pick up. Forms also available on website-under Food Service.

Non-Student Residents: Parents may pick up Grab & Go meals on Monday through Friday at BES. Pick up time for meals is 12:30 a.m. at the side of the school where parents pick up kids on half days. Signs will be posted with directions. Form must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. the night before pickup.
