Eversource Joins Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity’s “Playhouse Build”

Submitted by Farrah Garibaldi, Eversource.

BERLIN, Conn. (November 19, 2019) – Two Hartford area families are full of thanks after receiving new playhouses for their kids to enjoy. This is the first year Eversource employee volunteers participated in ‘Playhouse Build,’ an event coordinated by the Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers spent the day painting and building playhouses for an East Hartford and Hartford family. In addition to the volunteer support from its employees, Eversource provided a $5,000 charitable contribution to Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity.

“Our volunteers were so excited to be part of this project and couldn’t wait to see the children’s reactions – that’s what they talked about all day as they worked on these houses,” said Eversource Community Relations Specialist Mark Massaro. “Seeing the kids’ smiles and excitement was all worth it. We all enjoy serving the neighborhoods where we work and live.”
Fifteen Eversource employees participated in the day-long event at the energy company’s Hartford facility. The team designed and built a schoolhouse-themed playhouse for the Charette family of East Hartford. They also built a Disney’s ‘Frozen’ themed playhouse for the Nunez-Santos family of Hartford. Eversource employees got to meet the families after the playhouses were presented.
“These playhouses provide safe place for children to let their imaginations and dreams of their own ‘home’ come to life,” said Corporate Engagement Manager for Hartford Area Habitat Christina D’Amato. “We’re grateful to have community partners like Eversource who share a commitment to support our communities and their families.”
