Christine Cohen (D)
I’m Christine Cohen representing the 12th Senate District currently comprised of Branford, Madison, Guilford, Killingworth, Durham and North Branford and after redistricting, also parts of Middlefield and East Haven. I live in Guilford with my husband Rob, our three teenage children and our dog, Abby. In 2003, we started Cohen’s Bagel Company. Prior to being elected to the state senate, I served on Guilford’s Board of Education.

I am chair of the Environment committee, and vice chair of Commerce. I’m a member of the Children’s, Aging and Finance committees as well. I have been honored to bring the voices of constituents with me to Hartford. Some of the best legislation has come directly from conversations together whether it be from the Songs who advocated fiercely for safe gun storage in the wake of the tragic loss of their son; or securing more police funding for crisis intervention training based on conversations with law enforcement and local advocates. I recently worked with a team of community members to secure state dollars for the Chatfield Hollow bridge project and together with the delegation, also brought back funding for the Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department. I worked hard to ban harmful PFAS chemicals in firefighting foam and ensure the proper testing and remediation for communities impacted by contamination, such as Killingworth. I am really proud of these often bipartisan accomplishments and there are so many more.
Fiscally, Connecticut is in a terrific position. We’ve had economic growth, have maxed out our Rainy Day Fund at $3.3 billion and provided the largest tax cuts in recent history.

I hope to be re-elected and continue this good work together. Protecting our environment, safeguarding reproductive freedom, securing affordable, quality healthcare and growing Connecticut’s economy while addressing our fiscal responsibilities are a few of my top priorities.
