(June 6, 2024) — On Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., the Congregational Church in Killingworth will host a stage reading of Julius Lester’s “Day of Tears,” directed by Laurie Maria Cabral.
The play, set in Savannah, is based on the true events of Georgia plantation owner Pierce Butler, who sold more than 450 enslaved people in one day. This day was thereafter known as the “Day of Tears.”
