(November 22, 2024) — Brainerd Memorial Library in Haddam re-opened on Monday, November 11, 2024. At this time the upper level is housing Adult materials, as well as Children’s and Teen materials and programs until the lower level renovations are completed. In the meantime, we continue with our regular Children’s programs like Storytime and Toddler Tunes. Teen Game Nights and Pokémon programs, for example, are running as well. Check our website and Facebook pages to find out what’s happening.
Stop in and tour the library to view the changes! You will find a bright, spacious library with a new circulation desk, fresh flooring & walls, updated lighting, and two new conference rooms.
We still have a way to go, as new furniture and shelving is expected, and some of the collection is still in storage. However, new books are coming in regularly, and printing and other services are back online.
The Book Nook has returned—in its usual location in the back corner—with some enjoyable and interesting titles for perusal and purchase. Maybe pick up some stocking stuffers for family and friends.
We also are holding our regular holiday events, as follows:
Annual Children’s Yuletide Party/Saturday, December 7, 2024, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Join us to celebrate the season. There will be crafts, games, refreshments, a sing-along, and a visit from Santa.
Gingerbread House Party/Wednesday, December 11, 2024, 5:30 p.m. Get into the holiday spirit with a delightful evening of icing, candies and creative confections. Stay for story time and hot cocoa with our special guest, Mrs. Claus, at 7:00 p.m. All materials will be provided. Registration is required.
Other regular programs and services include our Genealogy series, Cooking Club, Crafts, Tech Help and free Children’s Book Bundles.
A reminder that the Friends of Brainerd Library still have some Spring flower bulbs for sale in the lobby. It’s not too late to plant them!
The Brainerd Memorial Library staff wishes our community a Happy Thanksgiving and a joyful holiday season.
