Brainerd Memorial Library Announces 2021 Summer Reading Program

By Kelly Moore, Brainerd Memorial Library.

(June 15, 2021) — The Brainerd Memorial Library has unveiled the theme and details of its Summer Reading Program for 2021. This year’s program, Tails and Tales, features a theme centered around a plethora of cool animals, from skunks to snakes and everything in between. The program will begin on Monday, June 21, 2021 and will be available to readers of all ages, with different engaging events for each age group. Visit www.brainerdlibrary.org for details regarding signing up.

Starting Tuesday, June 22, children and their families are invited to attend weekly in-person programs at Field Park, located behind Town Hall on Field Park Drive. Story Time will take place every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and will feature animal-themed stories, songs, fingerplays, and crafts. Music Time will take place every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and will feature an array of favorite kid-interactive songs, and plenty of animal-themed musical numbers. Families are invited to bring a picnic blanket, beach towel, or folding chairs to both programs. In the case of poor weather, alternate dates for each program will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for Story Time and Friday at 10:30 a.m. for Music Time.  The Library will post a notice on its website and Facebook page informing patrons of the postponement. Families unable to attend storytime will be able to pick up the weekly craft in the vestibule from Tuesday afternoon to Monday evening each week while supplies last.

The Library will also host several events on Wednesday nights at Field Park for the whole family. These events will feature animal-themed STEAM projects and plenty of pizza to fuel patrons’ creativity. Stay tuned for the dates and themes for these special programs.

Teens and adults can also look forward to the Library’s Summer Reading Program this year. Teen readers will be invited to participate in fun in-person and online events that will be announced periodically throughout the summer, and earn a prize of their choice at the program’s conclusion. A new teen craft will also be available each month in the library vestibule. Tweens will have the choice of participating in the children’s or teen programs. Adult readers are invited to participate by keeping a summer reading log as well as attending several interesting and informative online presentations presented by the Library.

There’s plenty in store for the summer, so keep up-to-date with Library news at www.brainerdlibrary.org and be sure to check out our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/brainerdlibrary and our Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/brainerd_memorial_library/.  Patrons can also contact the Library through phone at 860-345-2204 or through email at library@brainerdlibrary.org.
